World Health Day 7 April – Each year there is a new theme, this year the World Health Day is devoted to Hypertension – elevated blood pressure. It can be reduced by a healthy diet which should include whole grains, poultry, fish, nuts , lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, all low in saturated fat and cholesterol. So why not celebrate the day with a healthy menu, or even better change your bad eating habits for good and get active and healthy!
St. George’s Day 23 April – St Georges Day is commemorated by several kingdoms, nations, cities, and countries, of which Saint George is a patron saint. The anniversary of his death, which is on April 23, is seen as England’s national day. According to legend, he was a soldier in the Roman army who killed a dragon and saved a princess.
Many people in England don’t observe nor know when the national day is at all. However, in recent years, celebrating St George’s Day seems to gradually be regaining popularity in England. Time to cook some good old British food!
