As we mentioned in our this month post a few weeks ago, today is World Diabetes Day. Created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation this campaign engages people all over the world and raises awareness about the disease.
There is some confusion about diabetic-friendly recipes, it is not as straight-forward as saying “no sugar at all” although careful monitoring of sugar intake is important. The primary thing is to maintain a balanced diet low in saturated fat and sugar. Many existing recipes can be adapted simply by substituting or omitting some ingredients and there are plenty of low-fat & low-sugar alternatives.
