Enjoy Bonfire Night with this hot drink , excellent as a great warm-up on a cold winter night!

  • 200ml rum
  • 200ml water
  • 50g  butter
  • 2 Tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tsp clove
  • 1 Tsp nutmeg
  • 170g sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp salt
  • whipped cream
  • milk to taste

In a pan add water, sugar, butter, spices and salt.  Heat it  and leave it to cook for at least 30 minutes. The original recipe requires 4 hours of cooking but it is up to you how long you want it!

When done remove from the heat, leave to stand couple of minutes than add rum and stir well.

Fill 1/2 a suitable glass or a cup with rum drink and then pour hot or warm milk. Stir. Add whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg.

If you want stronger taste then prepare it without milk. But be warned it is very strong! ;)  And of course if you prefer weak alcoholic drink then fill 1/3 of a glass with rum drink and 2/3 with hot milk.
